Learning About Japanese Food Staples

Japanese cuisine is a really great choice when you want to try something flavorful that comes from Asian cuisine. You will find that there are a variety of different dishes for you to choose from. In America, you will find Japanese steak houses in many cities across the nation. These steak houses have chefs that specialize in bringing Japanese cuisine directly to your table. In fact, they even cook the food right in front of you in most cases. When you visit a Japanese restaurant, you will likely be eating at a table that is situated around a large hibachi grill.

What to Order at a Japanese Restaurant

The first thing that you will want to do is decide what you will order at a Japanese restaurant. Most of the time they will have combination plates that will allow you to choose a meat, or two if you like, and then you will get fried rice, miso soup, salad, and hibachi grilled vegetables along with it. If you have never eaten Japanese food, you will want to choose something that you are familiar with. For instance, if you know that you like steak or chicken, order that. You may also want to order a sushi roll or two along with it.

If you are not eating at the hibachi grill type Japanese restaurant, you will have other choices. You can eat tempura or teriyaki style foods- as these are just basic introductions to the Japanese cuisine. You may also be able to choose from appetizers such as edamame- which are basically beans that are steamed. These are really high in protein and are really good for you.

The Joys of a Hibachi Grill

Eating at a hibachi grill is fun for the entire family. Most of the chefs will put on a great show. It may start by lighting a large fire in front of you. While this may startle you at first, it is something that most people find fascinating. They will then start to cook your rice right before your eyes. You can watch them transform regular steamed rice into delicious fried rice right in front of you. If you watch closely, you may even be able to create fabulous fried rice at home! Once you are served your rice, they will continue cooking everyone’s food to order. It is fun to watch them cook rather than just waiting for them to bring your meal out to your table like you would at a regular restaurant.

How does it Measure Up

If you have never tried Japanese food, you may wonder how it measures up during a taste test. Most people that enjoy food such as Chinese food and other Asian cuisine really enjoy eating Japanese food as well. You can add sauces to your food to really create a taste that you love. Try many of the things that they have to offer and get an idea as to what you like most.
